Every member of our Teamwill go above and beyond to ensure your holiday runs smoothly. It’s been a difficult 18months for everyone as our usual pattern of work/life balance has been turned on its head.We’ve all felt the mental pressure that goes with new regulations,newways of working and in some cases newwork colleagues! However,we’ve tried to remain positive throughout and support each other when one of us has been struggling. Thankfully the vast majority of our great teamhave stayedwith us, andwe’ve recruited several strong replacements. We encouraged people to keep in contract with their teammates particularly when we hadn’t heard from them for a while and verymuch followed the advice‘a problem shared is a problem halved’.WhatsApp groups, zoomquizzes and the occasional beach cleans all played their part in keeping us together. In terms of our ‘new arrivals’, Paulina (our Head Housekeeper) gave birth to‘Oscar’ back on 14th August 2021 and along with her husband Bart theymake a lovely family. Nigel and Jane’s daughter Emma gave birth to their first grandson‘Hector’ in early December and they all came through it in good health. Elder sister (grandaughter Amaia) is still not so sure she likes sharing the limelight! Jo, former Head Receptionist,got extremely bored in lockdown and decided to take a jobwith the Local Authority.Thankfully she came back to us in Nigel Seddon (Managing Director) & Amanda Shuttleworth (Operations Manager) We are proud to say that wewere awarded a Gold IIP status. We are committed to going above and beyond to provide our staff with the necessary support and training they require to enjoy fulfilment in their careers. We are also in theTop 30 Best Places toWork in the UK in Hospitality bymagazineThe Caterer – wewere the only privately-owned business in Lancashire to feature! October and nowworks inTours and Group Bookings Office. Susan took over as Head Receptionist andwith new recruits Josef & Lisa, and support from Debbie, is doing a great job in her first 6months. Paulina is still onmaternity leave as I write this letter,but ‘New-Girl’ Sharon bravely took on this very challenging role andwith the help of the housekeeping teamand some help from Amanda they have kept the hotel ‘gleaming’. The Stalwarts of the hotel who have been heremany amoon are Gary, Gary and Michael in the Kitchen. Tom & Arek in the Restaurant with support from Ieva, Iain, Nok and Sue, Mark & Leanne in the Bar,with Maria being head of the Entertainment. Amy in accounts, Beth, Pat and Olivia inTours and Alvis our maintenanceman.Not forgetting Front of House Garry and Operations Manager Amanda – who leads us from the front.These wonderful people really are the life blood of the hotel andwithout themwe would be nothing. By TheWay…Our oldest new recruit of all time arrived a fewmonths ago in the formof Giuliano at 81 years of age.He used to run the very popular ‘Mamas’ Italian restaurant onTopping Street for many years. In the evenings he now runs around the Elgin bar and restaurant like a spring chicken! Also – believe it or not, Joy our evening‘Super Supper Lady’came out of retirement recently.
